I am a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) practicing privately in Penticton, BC and have received training in the trauma-specific therapy EMDR. Many of my clients are looking to process, resolve, and move beyond their experiences of sexual assault and abuse, as well as other traumas such as bullying, physical assault, physical and emotional abuse, and loss. I have specialized training and almost ten years experience working with and supporting survivors of sexualized violence such as sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.
I also have training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on mindfulness techniques as well as clarification of life values. ACT can be effective for you if you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, and negative self-talk. It's also a tool to help you proactively create and engage in a meaningful life.
In 2013 I became certified in the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality assessment tool. The MBTI assessment can be used to learn more about yourself, your relationships, career choices, environmental needs, and values in life.
And of course my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria incorporated many different conselling models including Rogerian, existential, solution-focused, career counselling, family systems, and motivational interviewing.
